Impacting Sexual Violence in our Community through...Counseling Counselors provide individual and group counseling to victims of sexual assault/abuse and to their family members. Legal Advocacy Our legal advocate responds to both the personal and legal needs of survivors and their family members. Crisis-Line Support Our phone number, (989) 790-9118, is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide emotional support as well as referrals to victims of sexual assault and their family members. SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examinations) Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners ensure expert forensic evidence collection to victims age 13 and older who have been sexually assaulted in the past 96 hours. Victim Advocacy We provide in-person emotional support to victims of sexual assault at the SANE exam room, local hospitals, and police departments. Happy Bear Prevention Program Happy Bear is a loveable bear who teaches children age 3-6 the difference between good, bad, and confusing touches. The program strives to teach kids the 3 Rs for confusing touches: recognize, resist, and report. Sexual Harassment & Acquaintance Rape Prevention Program We provide prevention workshops to middle and high schools aiming at increasing students knowledge of sexual violence while positively changing their attitudes regarding rape-supporting myths. Workshops are also offered to worksites. All services of the Sexual Assault Program are free to clients thanks to funds provided by Michigan Department of Community Health, United Way of Saginaw County, Victim of Crime Act (VOCA) grant from the Crime Victim Services Commission, and personal donations.
